Port Authority tolls to increase the same day congestion pricing starts

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Congestion pricing isn’t the only new toll going into effect on Sunday, the Port Authority will also raise its prices to cross its bridges and tunnels.

Tolls will go up for all vehicles to use the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the George Washington, Bayonne and Goethals bridges, and the Outerbridge Crossing. Similar to congestion pricing, the new toll prices will differ during peak and off-peak hours.

For most vehicles, the new tolls will go up to $16.06 during peak hours and $14.06 for off-peak hours. Currently toll prices sit at $15.38 for peak hours and $13.38 for off-peak.

Peak hours on Port Authority crossings run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. They also include Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

After crossing into New York, drivers heading below 60th Street will also have to pay the congestion pricing fee of $9 during peak hours and $2.25 during off-peak hours. 

However, to help ease the financial burden, the MTA will offer a $3 discount for the Lincoln and Holland tunnels.

For many commuters coming from New Jersey and Staten Island, the overall price to drive into New York City can range from $16.31 during off-peak hours to $25.06 during peak hours.
